Working with charts

Create a chart
  1. From the Reports list, click the New button.
  2. Choose Chart Wizard.
  3. From the drop-down list, choose the table or query which will provide the data for the chart and click OK.
  4. Follow the instructions of the Chart Wizard and make choices when prompted.  Some tips:
    • Pie charts use only one field.  Most other chart types take two fields.  Using more fields often makes charts crowded and unreadable.
    • When asked if you want to add legends, titles, etc., if in doubt choose Yes.  It is a bit easier to delete items you don’t want from the finished chart than to add items that aren’t there.

Modify a chart
  1. Select the chart and click Design.
  2. Double-click the chart.  Microsoft Graph will open to help you modify the chart.
  3. The data which produces the chart is in one window.  You can change labels safely, but if you change the data that actually produces the chart, the chart will no longer accurately reflect your database.
  4. To change the formatting of chart elements (e.g. column color, axis scaling, labels), simply double-click the chart element you wish to change.  The Format dialog that appears will help you make your desired changes.
