What Can I Accomplish with Other SharePoint Technologies?

You can achieve the best information-integration experience by using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Enterprise Edition (MOSS). But don’t despair if you have access only to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS) or MOSS Standard Edition. Your reporting environment can still be improved with either of these technologies. Both of these versions support everything except Excel Services, integrated business intelligence (BI) dashboards, KPIs, and filtering. You’ll still be able to consolidate SSRS reports with other business information, implement search services, support alerts, and enable collaboration regardless of the SharePoint technology you’re using. However, MOSS Standard Edition adds some features not available in WSS, including target audiences, My Site portals, advanced workflow support, and application of document auditing and retention policies.
